What it does
Use Component mode to encode a value that belongs inside a URL, or Whole URL mode to preserve the separators in a complete address. Decode percent-encoded text to make it readable again. Conversion happens in your browser; it does not open the destination or encrypt the text.
Useful when
- Encode a query value containing spaces or punctuation.
- Read an escaped filename or campaign parameter.
- Spot accidental double encoding in an integration.

A few useful details
Should I encode an entire URL?
Choose Component for a value such as a search term; it escapes URL punctuation too. Choose Whole URL for a complete address; it preserves structural separators such as : / ? and &. The modes serve different purposes, so check where the result will be used.
Why does decoding fail?
A percent escape may be incomplete, or its bytes may not represent valid UTF-8 text. Review the original value instead of repeatedly decoding it.
Is encoding a way to hide sensitive information?
No. Percent encoding is reversible formatting. Anyone with the encoded text can decode it.
