What it does
Convert text to Base64 or decode a Base64 string into readable UTF-8 text. Choose the standard or URL-safe alphabet, copy the result, or download a text file. Spaces and Unicode characters in your original text are preserved.
Useful when
- Read a Base64-encoded UTF-8 field from an API response.
- Prepare a small text payload for a test fixture.

How to use it
- Choose encode or decode and select the Base64 alphabet.
- Paste UTF-8 text or a Base64 string. Decoding requires valid padding where required by the alphabet, and no whitespace.

A few useful details
Is Base64 encryption?
No. Base64 is a reversible encoding. Anyone who has the encoded value can decode it; it does not protect secrets.
How do standard and URL-safe Base64 differ?
Standard Base64 uses + and / and requires trailing = padding when needed. URL-safe Base64 uses - and _; this tool omits padding when encoding and accepts either correct padding or none when decoding. Alphabets, padding, and unused bits are checked strictly.
What can this tool decode?
Pasted UTF-8 text only; there is no file upload. Invalid UTF-8, whitespace in the encoded input, and data-URL prefixes are rejected. Text is limited to 192 KiB of UTF-8 bytes, which produces at most 256 KiB of Base64. Processing stays in your browser.
